DALLAS, TX (March 2026) – Thanks to a strong partnership between Energy Transfer and the Texas Trees Foundation an investment of 36 trees will be provided to After8toEducate, a facility that provides unsheltered youth (ages 14-21) with support in accessing safe housing, education and essential services, for volunteers with Energy Transfer to plant.
A mix of native shade, ornamental, and fruit trees, along with supporting landscaping plants such as pollinators, fruit, and vegetable plants will be planted Thursday, March 26 at 9 a.m. The trees will enhance the outdoor courtyard for unsheltered youth at After8ToEducate. This project is part of the South Dallas Greening Initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service, as an ongoing effort to mitigate the urban heat island and provide the health benefits of trees to residents and visitors in Dallas’s most tree-deficient areas.
“Research has proven that regular access to nature significantly reduces stress, someone’s susceptibility to depression and anxiety, while also enhancing positive mood and cognitive performance, such as memory. Thanks to Energy Transfer and our partnerships with After8, these trees will create an oasis for some of our community’s most vulnerable to come and feel safe and renewed,”
Janette Monear, President and CEO of Texas Trees Foundation.
“Our employees have embraced our partnership with Texas Trees over the past three years,” said Vicki Granado, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Energy Transfer. “They really value the opportunity to help Dallas expand its urban tree canopy. We are proud to have a long-standing relationship with After8, and we’re excited to see the direct impact this project will have on the individuals they serve.”
