BREATHE EASY DALLAS
Five organizations are collaborating with an ultimate goal in mind: Improving public health outcomes among high-risk populations especially children and the elderly.
Texas Trees Foundation, City of Dallas, Nature Conservancy, Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), and the Center for Advancing Transportation Emissions, Energy, and Health (CARTEEH) are working together to monitor the quality of air in the Southwest Medical District’s public rights-of-way.
Air monitors have been set up at the following intersections: Harry Hines Blvd. at Medical District Drive, Harry Hines Blvd. at Record Crossing Road, and Inwood Road at Southwestern Medical Avenue.
Over an extended time, levels of ozone, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter, relative humidity, and air temperature will be collected and analyzed in hopes of making informed design decisions that will mitigate air pollutants and create a healthier streetscape along Harry Hines Boulevard where nature and people can thrive.
