Ryan Weesner

Urban Forestry Coordinator

Ryan Weesner is an ecologist from Memphis, TN. He recently moved up to DFW with his wife, Leslee, and his son, Santiago, but has been a part of the region for years. He loves educating his family about the natural world, but compromises with zoo excursions.

Ryan found his love for conservation and land stewardship from the Audubon organization at their Strawberry Plains location in Holly Springs, MS. He took his love for the natural world to Auburn University, where he pursued a degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Animal Behavior. In between classes he participated in pioneering research across the Southeast. He then pursued a PhD at Texas A&M in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, where he studied the interactions between birds and the parasites that infect them.

Ryan is excited to join the Texas Trees team and provide cities with a more sustainable, more livable, and more beautiful environment. He plans to bring his experience across a wide diversity of biological and ecological systems to the table to assist Texas Trees in their planning so that forestry contributes to the bridging of humans and natural ecosystems.
