Tree planting efforts after devastating tornado in Rowlett, TX
On December 26th 2015, an EF4 tornado devastated Rowlett, TX, leaving 1,344 homes either being damaged or destroyed. An estimated $1.2 billion in damages were caused and thousands of trees were lost.
The following year on December 10th, 2016, Texas Trees Foundation, RETREET and Keep Rowlett Beautiful initiated the replanting of Rowlett. The goal of this planting was to begin the re-growth of Rowlett’s urban forest with the planting of more than 400 trees.
