Abby McGee

SWMD Project Coordinator

Abby McGee joined the Texas Trees Foundation Team in August 2023 as a SWMD Project Coordinator. She supports the Southwestern Medical District Transformation team by collaborating on engagement, social media and digital marketing, and grant-writing efforts. She brings to the team skills including environmental education, digital design, and written communication.

She graduated with an Environmental Studies degree from Southwestern University in 2023. During her time at school, her passion for environmental work was influenced by a study abroad trip to Switzerland, where she witnessed post-card worthy natural scenery in the Alps and on Lake Lugano, and through her Capstone project where she and her research group analyzed recycling behaviors, attitudes, and awareness at different scales; from the United States to her college campus.

She further explored her interests at the intersection of the environment and health by completing fulfilling internships with her school’s Health and Counseling Center, Austin Youth River Watch, and Texan by Nature. Some of her favorite assignments included creating digital social media graphics to educate diverse audiences on health and environmental topics, teaching high school students about forest health, creating a research library for Texan by Nature's Center for Health and Nature program, and researching corporate sustainability in Texas.

She loves how her current role at Texas Trees Foundation merges all of her past experiences and passions into one. As a native DFW resident, she is thrilled to combine her knowledge and passion for the environment to make her community a safer and greener place for all who call it home.

In her free time, you will find her listening to all kinds of music, catching concerts of her favorite bands coming to town, reading, doing yoga, enjoying outdoor activities such as swimming or hiking, trying out local coffee shops, and exploring new places near and far!
