Abby McGee Voyles

Southwestern Medical District Project Coordinator

Abby Voyles joined the Texas Trees Foundation team in August 2023 as the SWMD Project Coordinator. She is passionate about the relationship between humans and their environment and is thrilled to be a part of an organization and project reimagining public spaces to be happier, healthier, and greener places.

She supports the SWMD Project on social media and digital communications, community outreach and engagement, and grant writing activities. She brings to the team skills and strengths in environmental education, environmental communications, social media management, online research, and written and oral communication.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Southwestern University in 2023. During her time in school, her passion for environmental work was influenced by a study abroad trip to Switzerland, where she witnessed the most stunning natural scenery in the Alps and on Lake Lugano, and through her Capstone project where she and her research group analyzed recycling behaviors, attitudes, and awareness at different scales; from the United States to her college campus.

She further fostered her interests at the intersection of health and the environment by completing fulfilling internships with her school’s Health and Counseling Center, Austin Youth River Watch, and Texan by Nature. Some of her favorite assignments included creating social media graphics to educate diverse audiences on health and environmental topics, teaching high school students about forest health, creating a research library for Texan by Nature’s Center for Health and Nature program, and researching corporate sustainability in Texas.

As a native Dallas-Fort Worth resident, Abby is thrilled that her role at Texas Trees Foundation allows her to make the community she loves a more sustainable and healthier place for all who call it home. In her free time, you will find her with a good cup of coffee, listening to all kinds of music, going to concerts, reading, writing, doing yoga, and exploring new places near and far!
